What exactly is mulberry silk?
Aug 31, 2022
Mulberry silk is considered the highest quality you can find. Just as Egyptian cotton is equivalent to silk: its fibers are longer and more uniform, making the fabric smoother and more durable. As a result, most silk sheets on the market are made from mulberry silk.
Momme with silk sheet thread number
Momme (mm) is the fabric weight of silk and is used in place of yarn count, which is the number of yarns per square inch. Because silk threads are thin, thread count is not the best indicator of quality. Momme, on the other hand, lets you know how much silk is used in the fabric.
In our tests, the best performing silk fabrics were usually 22 momME or higher. Generally, the higher the Momme, the more expensive the silk sheets.

What's the difference between silk and satin sheets?
Satin is a weave, silk is a fiber. Most silk sheets use satin weave, but you can also find satin sheets made from synthetic polyester fibers. These are often more affordable and less elaborate, but they don't have the same luxury or cool properties as silk. If you want silk sheets, be sure to check the fiber content.
