Whenever the weather gets cold, you will see recommendations about various velvets everywhere in your life: flannel, coral velvet, milk velvet, crystal velvet... The soft and soft velvet locks in all the heat and allows the skin to touch That is, people are more greedy for the comfort and gentleness of the quilt.

Do you know what these "velvet" are, what is the difference, and how to choose?

Characteristics of different fleece types

1. Coral fleece

Coral fleece is the most widely used fleece. There is no coral in the coral fleece, it is just a fabric structure that resembles coral in a fluffy shape, and the raw material is polyester microfiber. The texture is fine, soft to the touch, no pilling, no color fading, and has a good thermal effect. However, due to the principle of weaving, there will be slight hair loss, poor hygroscopicity, and it is easy to generate static electricity. It is not recommended for sensitive people.

2. Flannel

Flannel, which first appeared on the market, is made of wool blend and is mainly used in suits and other clothing. However, what has become popular in the market in recent years is not "flannel" in its original meaning. The raw materials are mostly polyester fibers. Compared with coral fleece, the fleece is shorter and denser, and the hand feels softer and fits better.

3. Milk velvet

Milk fleece is a fabric that has only become popular in recent years. It is made of "milk" as the basic raw material and is produced after technical processing. It is also a polyester fiber product in essence. Compared with coral fleece and flannel, the moisture absorption and thermal conductivity are better, and the comfort will be better.

4. Crystal velvet

The essence of crystal velvet is also ultra-fine polyester fiber. The fluff is similar to coral fleece and is coral-like, but the fluff is shorter in length and higher in luster. Although it is soft, it is less comfortable than flannel and milk due to its poor moisture absorption effect. velvet etc.

5. Baby fleece

Baby fleece, also known as "baby fleece", is made of acrylic fiber as the main material. But the warmth is not as good as coral fleece, flannel, milk fleece, etc.

6. Lamb velvet

The lamb cashmere kits on the market are not real cashmere, but "imitation cashmere", which are mostly blended with polyester + nitrile. Compared with other fleece, lamb fleece feels harder, but has good hygroscopicity, and its warmth retention effect is no less than that of real lamb fleece. Sheep velvet kits generally exist in the form of AB sides, that is, the A side is lamb velvet, and the B side is other velvet or other fabrics.

1. Look at the gram weight/total weight

The quality of the fabric of the fleece kit is related to the gram weight, not the count. The gram weight is the number of grams of the fabric weight in square meters. The higher the gram weight, the thicker and warmer the fabric;

At present, the weight of fleece kits on the market can be as low as 120g, and the height is also 300g+, and those below 150g are generally single-sided fleece. To ensure comfort, it is recommended to choose a kit with a gram weight of 200 or more.

Of course, not all brand products will mark the gram weight on the product parameters. In this case, we can look at another value: the total weight. In the case of the same size, the higher the total weight of the kit, the higher the gram weight, indicating that the kit is thicker.

2. to see whether there is conductive wire

The various fleece fabrics currently on the market are essentially chemical fibers, and their hygroscopicity is poorer than that of natural fibers. Under dry air conditions, friction is prone to generate static electricity. The conductive thread can help solve the problem of static electricity and improve the comfort of the fabric.

In general, polyester fiber fleece fabrics do not have much essential difference. The finer the fleece, the higher the comfort; the greater the gram weight, the thicker and warmer the fabric. Since polyester fibers are prone to friction and electricity, you should pay attention to whether they contain conductive filaments when purchasing them.
