You spend about a third of your life on your mattress, so it is a household item that should be cleaned carefully. Cleaning your mattress regularly can help reduce allergens in your bedroom and keep it fresh for years. It's also important to clean up any spills as soon as possible to prevent stains from forming or mold from growing. The good news is that cleaning a mattress isn't hard, and you can use some basic cleaning tools to clean it.
It is divided into three steps
Step 1: Get out of bed
1/ Remove pillows and decorations from the bed. Before cleaning the mattress, remove all items that cover it. Start by removing top items, including pillows, decorative pillows, blankets, toys and other items.

When sleeping, remove the pillowcase and throw it into the laundry basket.
Fold blankets and move items from the bed to another part of the room so they don't get in the way of cleaning.
2/ Peel the linen. Once all decorative items, pillows and covers have been removed from the bed, remove any sheets covering the mattress. This includes top sheets, sheets and any mattress covers you may have installed.

Throw the fabric in the laundry basket with the pillowcase.
3/ Wash bedding and linens. When everything has left the bed and the mattress is bare, you can begin the cleaning process. When cleaning the mattress, wash the sheets, sheets and pillowcases in the washing machine. That way, you can start with a brand new bed.

When washing any fabric, read and follow the care label. Use the most hot water and dryer setting possible to kill any bacteria or dust mites that may be hiding in the linen.
If using a duvet, remove the cover and wash with linen.
Step 2: Clean and deodorize the mattress
1 / vacuum. The first step in cleaning a mattress is vacuuming. This will remove mites, dust, dead skin, hair and other debris from your mattress. Vacuum the top of the mattress using a wide brush attachment. Use long upholstery nozzles to enter cracks, vacuum edges and pipes, and clean sides and corners.

Before vacuuming, make sure the nozzle and brush attachment are completely clean.
2/ Dispose of new spillage. Recent spillages that are still wet should be removed immediately. Wet the clean cloth with cold water. Blot the spill with a damp cloth. Do not rub or scrub spillage as this may push it further into the mattress. Continue to blot the ink until all the excess liquid has been absorbed.

3/ Spots clean stains. Mix 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of hydrogen peroxide and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of dishwashing liquid in a small bowl. Stir them together with a spoon to form a foam. Dip an old toothbrush in soapy water. Gently scrub the foam into the affected area of the mattress. Wipe off excess detergent with a clean, damp cloth.
The solution will effectively treat dirt, stains on food and drink.
You can also cover the stain with oxidized bleach. Let it soak in the mattress for about 15 minutes, then scrub with water.
For memory foam mattresses, use only the minimum amount of detergent, as memory foam will never get wet

4/ Clean biological stains with enzyme cleaner. Spray some enzyme cleaner onto a clean cloth. Blot the stain with a cloth to saturate it. Let the enzyme cleaner sit for about 15 minutes. Wipe the area with the same cloth to remove stains. Wipe the area with a clean cloth dipped in cold, damp water.
Do not spray liquid cleaner directly onto the mattress. Mattresses are not designed to get wet, especially with memory foam, so use as little detergent as possible to treat stains.
Enzyme cleaners break down proteins in blood, urine, sweat, vomit, oils, grease and other biological stains. It can also help eliminate any odors.

5/ Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress. After treating the stains, you can clean and deodorize the entire mattress. To do this, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the entire surface of your mattress.
To give your mattress a fresh smell, pour five drops of your favorite essential oil into baking soda and sprinkle it over the mattress.
To spread baking soda more evenly, pour it into a sieve, then use the sieve to distribute it over the mattress.

6/ Soak up the smell with baking soda. Let the baking soda sit on the mattress for at least 30 minutes. This will give it time to break down the acid, absorb the smell and absorb any liquid left over from the point of cleaning.
If you have time, you can open Sue for a few hours. The longer it sits on the mattress, the more it absorbs and cleans.

7/ Vacuum the mattress again. Vacuum baking soda when it has time to sit down. You will absorb the acids, smells and liquids that baking soda has absorbed. Cover the top of the mattress with a brush and cover corners, cracks, seams and pipes with a long nozzle.
8/ Let the mattress empty. After the mattress is cleaned, it is best to let it rest for a while so that any liquid left in the mattress dries out. Moisture that accumulates in the mattress can cause mold, which can be difficult to remove.

In the warmer months, open your room Windows to let in fresh air and dry out your mattress more quickly.
You can also open curtains and curtains to direct sunlight, as uv rays from the sun will help kill bacteria and mold on the mattress and even eliminate odors and dry it out faster.
