The thinner the fabric, the worse the bed?

Jun 13, 2022

A good bedding, fabric is its soul!

I believe that a lot of people will use their hands to touch the fabric when choosing bed products, and sometimes they will feel that "the fabric is so thin, the quality must be bad, and it will be broken when used!" Is it true that the thinner the fabric, the worse?

Face this problem, the answer of a lot of people is different: some people feel thick just sufficient material, some people feel frivolous just comfortable, anyhow, cannot judge the stand or fall that the bed tastes with the thin thickness of fabrics.

The thickness and thinness of the fabric are mainly related to the following factors:

1.Count density of fabric

Count: refers to the thickness of the yarn. The length of 1 gram of yarn is called count. For example, if a yarn weighing 1 gram is made 30 meters long, it means 30 pieces or 30S. The smaller the number, the thicker the yarn, and the larger the number, the thinner the fabric, making it relatively soft and comfortable.

For example: the fabric of 21 yarn can be used to do the product of winter commonly, add thickly grind wool for instance the commonest, feel thick! And 40 commonly used to do spring and autumn bed products, 60 more suitable for summer to use! In fact, the higher the yarn weave, the higher the quality of raw materials and technology required!

Density: The total number of warp and weft threads per square inch (2.54 x 2.54 square centimeters). For example, 12868 is 128*68, which means 128 warp yarns and 68 weft yarns in 1 square inch, density =128+68=196.

For example: the same 40S fabric, the greater the density requires the closer the yarn arrangement! For example, the fabric of 14476 is more delicate and thick than that of 12868. Therefore, the quality of the fabric of 14476 is not the same as that of 12868, and the price is much more expensive, at least double!

2.Fabric structure

The second factor that affects the thickness of the fabric is the fabric structure, which is divided into "plain weave, twill weave and satin weave". Plain weave is a weft woven fabric, which is the strongest and the thinnest weaving method, but plain weave is not soft compared with the other two organizations. And air permeability is not as good as twill and satin, natural comfort will be compromised.

3.Fabric processing

In the market, we see some good quality cotton fabric, surface gloss is very good, this is because of the mercerization treatment;

If there is no mercerized cotton fabric, the surface of the yarn is wooly, and the woven fabric will of course feel thicker, and the fabric without mercerization will have a high shrinkage rate and color fastness, which will greatly decrease, affecting the use effect.

Sometimes can not rely on intuitive feeling, feel the fabric is very thin, or the name of the bed sounds good, to judge the quality of good or bad; It depends on raw materials, yarn count, density, softness, gloss, technological level, printing and dyeing technology and so on.

Therefore, it is not generally said that the thinner the fabric, the worse its quality!
