When purchasing bedding, which fabric is less likely to shed fibers?

Honestly, if pilling drives you crazy, skip the cheap poly-cotton blends right away. Those are the worst offenders.
Go for long-staple cotton-think Egyptian or Pima cotton. The fibers are longer, so they don't break and tangle into those little nasty balls as easily. A tight, high-thread-count percale or sateen weave also helps lock everything in place.
If you want to play it super safe, linen and silk barely pill at all because of their natural fiber structure. Just stay away from anything that feels overly brushed or fuzzy on the surface (like cheap flannels)-those are pilling magnets.
One pro tip: even the best fabric will pill if you wash it with jeans or zippers, so turn your sheets inside out and use a gentle cycle. That does more for longevity than the thread count ever will.
