How To Care, Maintain, And Clean Natural Latex Pillows
Nov 08, 2023
Due to its unique material, natural latex pillows not only have strong breathability, but also can prevent moisture and mold, and have anti mite and antibacterial effects, isolating the growth of insects and bacteria from the source. So generally, only the pillowcase needs to be cleaned without excessive cleaning, and latex pillows can be used and cared for normally and correctly. A natural latex pillow can have a service life of over 5 years. If the maintenance is good, using it for 10 years is not a problem at all!
Care and maintenance for local dirt
If a small part of the latex pillow is accidentally soiled, we can wet the towel with water, wring out excess water to scrub and clean, and leave it in a cool and ventilated place to dry.
Care and maintenance for overall dirt
If the latex pillow is completely dirty and needs to be cleaned, the following points should be taken care of and maintained to avoid affecting the service life of the natural latex pillow.
1. Natural latex pillows cannot be machine washed or dry cleaned, so manual hand washing must be used for cleaning. If it is placed in a washing machine or other washing equipment, it will be ground to pieces.
Attention: Latex pillows that claim to be machine washable with confidence on the market must be fake latex.
When manually washing, we should lay the latex pillow flat and try to clean it by squeezing it as much as possible, with gentle movements.
Attention: If vigorously rubbed or twisted, it is easy to wash and damage the natural latex pillow.
After being soaked in water, the weight of the natural latex pillow will become heavy because it has millions of small pores that can absorb a large amount of water like a sponge. If you lift it after absorbing water, you need to hold the middle of the latex pillow with your hand, keep the center of gravity on your hand, and carefully remove and move it.
Attention: Do not grab a small corner just like lifting clothes, to avoid being torn by gravity.
After cleaning the natural latex pillow, it is time to squeeze out the water. At this point, we should lay the latex pillow flat and use both hands to squeeze out water. We can also use a towel with good water absorption to wrap it up to absorb excess water.
Note: Do not wring clothes like Fried Dough Twists to squeeze out moisture, which will damage the natural latex pillow.
When drying 5 pairs of natural latex pillows, it is recommended to squeeze the bottom with your hands every 2-3 hours to drain any excess water. This can be done in conjunction with an electric fan to accelerate the drying speed.
We should place natural latex pillows in a cool and ventilated environment to dry, and not expose them to sunlight.
Attention: It is important to remember that natural latex pillows should not be exposed to sunlight, as prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause oxidation, yellowing, and even hardening to lose elasticity, reducing the lifespan of natural latex pillows. This is also an important aspect of care and maintenance.
The last important point is that latex pillows are made of natural materials, just like down jackets. After washing too much, they don't keep warm at the beginning, so latex pillows are the same. If you don't want to wash them, try not to wash them, just change the pillowcase frequently.
